                                                     Lessons of Sevilla
(and other places on my travels)

I don’t have any life changing health or wellness knowledge bombs to drop today. However, I did want to share a few of the BIG lessons I learned about myself and life itself while on my recent solo adventures.

  1. Go with the flow. Something we all need to put a little more positive intention towards in our lives. Everything will work itself out if you give it the space, love and trust. I promise you.
  2. A deep-seated trust in myself and actual listening to my intuition. Deep down, you know the answer. You know what to do. We all do. It just involves consciously quieting the ego mind and giving yourself the space and permission to listen. Truly listen. And then not judge what you hear.
  3. I'm not a complete control freak. I like having my intentions and from there moving in the direction of what feels right. I’m much more able to tell the difference now between when I am grasping as opposed to when I have lessened that same grasp. It might not sound like a big deal. But as someone who has been mindfully working on this for quite a long time, to be able to tell the difference and act upon it feels absolutely LIFE CHANGING!
  4. I am learning to let go. More and more each day. It's a process. It doesn't happen overnight. But I feel like I’m finally on my way there.
  5. It’s okay to take the road less traveled and venture off of your itinerary. Todo e bien. Case and point, I veered off of my itinerated cities twice and journeyed to Barcelona and Lisbon on a whim without ANY planning. And it felt AMAZING. My inner guide spoke. I listened. And here I am. Writing about my lessons thus far. With two of the best experiences I could have possibly had. #taketheroadlesstraveled #adventureisoutthere
  6. Other people's plans and journeys are just that. Other people's. Sometimes it's okay to latch on to other people's plans when it aligns completely. Feels truly right and gives you those ding ding ding feelings. And it's okay if it does not. The biggest thing I learned about this, if it does NOT. STOP. Feel for that direction that DOES give you the ding ding ding! If everything aligns but one thing. STOP. LISTEN. ALIGN. It may actually be the sign you need in the moment. This was spot on in my case and I learned so much from those moments.
  7. Travel is exhausting. My time and energy are valuable commodities and resources. And they are just that. Mine. I get to decide how to spend them. I don’t have to feel bad for not wanting to spend them in ways that are negatively affecting or ultimately not benefitting my experience.  Or quite frankly, not being spent in the way that other people would spend them. Just because you quote un quote “should” like something, by all means does not mean you have to. Biggest lesson here EMPOWERMENT in any and all social situations.
  8. The Law of Attraction is real. At least to some extent. Your thoughts attract similar thoughts and soon after become your ultimate experience and reality. My one night stay in Granada, is a prime example. I journeyed there with a negative mindset and an attitude of not wanting to be anywhere near the city. I counted on both hands the negative moments that kept presenting themselves to me ultimately leading me to not having the most positive experience there.
  9. The world is a friendly place. I really, truly mean that. We just need to lead by example. And seek out those trust givers and takers. As my good friend Stephen Sondheim once wrote, “Giants can be nice. Witches can be good.” Humans CAN BE GOOD. As hard as that might be to see at times. Trust. Trust. Trust. Live through love. Not fear.  And the world becomes a completely different place to live in.
  10. My last but most important lesson I’ve learned so far: I am ENOUGH. It might as well be my mantra. My daily affirmation. It might sound cheesy. Or too self-helpy. But this I want to truly celebrate. If even just for myself. The occasional company is well worth having, don’t get me wrong. I feel that I’ve forged connections that might well last a lifetime with other travelers I’ve met. Or maybe just right now. But for me, the biggest lesson I have learned is that I am 100% enough. I can do it. By myself. I don’t need anyone else to do anything or figure anything out for me. I am capable. I am strong AF. I am intelligent. I am resourceful. I am cunning. I am compassionate. I am willing to learn and grow. I am a teacher. I am a student. I am ENOUGH. I’ve got this.

May you all also notice those teachers and lessons in your own experiences today and every day.

Todo e bien,

Until next time,
A
